Income Tax.

It would assist consideration of possibility of method of defeating manoeuvre referred to if you could say

(a) date when proposal to re-introduce Income Tax was first made public;

(b) whether the firms concerned went into voluntary liquidation after that date and if so whether prior to or subsequent to 31st March, 1947, or

(c) whether liquidation was carried out in anticipation of unofficial knowledge that there was a probability of the introduction of such tax.
